Our client, a renowned entity in the Defence & Security sector, is looking for a Senior Quality Inspector to undertake a contract-based role within their Barrow facility, focusing on high-quality inspection tasks relevant to submarine solutions. This will be 3 on 4 off days shift.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking inspections of products during build in accordance with relevant inspection and test plans.
  • Working autonomously while offering guidance to junior members of the Quality department within your skill areas.
  • Escalating problems as required and conducting Quality activities in alignment with relevant processes and procedures.
  • Operating within various domain areas, including Dimensional Control, Electrical, Paint, Pipe/Mechanical, Radiography, Structural/Steelwork, Non-Destructive Examination (Weld Inspection), Receipt Inspection, Sheet Metalwork, Acoustic Tiling.
  • Demonstrating SHE and responsible business behaviours.
  • Conducting conditions management and customer walk-round audits.
  • Carrying out routine and non-routine Quality inspection activities with no or minimal supervision.
  • Liaising with appropriate business areas and building effective relationships.
  • Utilising calibrated measuring equipment to assess tolerances and record non-conformances.
  • Reporting inspection results using agreed processes and systems.
  • Representing the department at local Quality reviews and liaising with customers when necessary.


Job Requirements:

  • Awareness of ISO 9001/ EN9100 standards.
  • Good understanding of Quality Inspection discipline and end-to-end requirements.
  • Knowledge of product safety requirements and export requirements (e.g., ITAR).
  • Ability to use and train others in applicable technology and tools.
  • Proficiency in interpreting specifications, procedures, and contract requirements.
  • Effective stakeholder management skills.
  • NC or HNC qualification in an appropriate technical discipline or equivalent experience (trades background - time served in trade discipline).
