Senior Public Health Principal (Health Determinants) at London Borough of Merton. Merton Council is seeking a permanent Senior Public Health Principal to lead on embedding a strategic approach to healthy places, improving health through environmental and socio-economic factors and tackling inequalities. The role requires the ability and flexibility to work across all aspects of public health.The Public Health team is welcoming and busy, values professional development, and aims to deliver high quality public health advice in support of the council’s joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy.Responsibilities
Lead on a Health In All Policies approach and build networks with teams across council directorates (planners, transport, housing, climate, environment, economy, and civic pride), adult social care and children’s services, the NHS Integrated Care System, and other local organisations to influence work and maximise population health.Collaborate with directorates to influence how planning, transport, housing, climate, environment, economy, and community initiatives support health and reduce inequalities.Apply knowledge of public health principles and practice to inform policy and service delivery and promote health improvement.Provide high quality public health advice and contribute to professional development within the Public Health team.Qualifications
Postgraduate level qualification (or equivalent) in public health or a related subject, or equivalent experience in public health or a related field.Knowledge of the causes of ill health and inequalities, and of public health principles and practice.Application
