Senior Proposals Manager

We are partnering with a leading Tier 1 Main Contractor to recruit a Senior Proposals Manager to join their Midlands construction business, based in Birmingham. This hybrid role offers a blend of office-based and remote working.

As an experienced Senior Proposals Manager, you will lead the development of high-quality, customer-focused bid submissions, ensuring proposals are compelling, innovative, and aligned with client requirements. Working closely with pre-construction teams, bid managers, and subject matter experts, you will play a key role in securing major projects across a diverse range of sectors including Education, Healthcare, Commercial, Defence, Leisure, and Emergency Services.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who can create a clear "golden thread" throughout submissions, develop winning strategies, and produce engaging content that differentiates the business in a competitive marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the end-to-end proposal process, ensuring all submissions are completed to the highest standard.
• Produce high-quality qualitative bid responses within agreed deadlines and budgets.
• Coordinate and manage contributions from internal stakeholders and technical specialists.
• Collaborate with bid teams to develop proposal strategies, win themes, and submission plans.
• Facilitate review sessions and ensure submissions are robust, compliant, and compelling.
• Manage the preparation and production of accurate, professional tender and PQQ documentation.
• Identify and resolve proposal development challenges to maintain submission quality and programme.
• Introduce innovative approaches and continuously improve bid processes through lessons learned.
• Analyse technical requirements and shape responses to maximise scoring potential.
• Support the preparation of client presentations, ensuring they are engaging and customer-focused.
• Provide guidance and support to team members throughout the bid lifecycle.

Education, skills and experience

• Proven success in a Proposals Manager, Senior Proposals Manager, or Bid Management role within the construction industry.
• Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience managing multiple bid opportunities simultaneously.
• Excellent written communication and content development skills.
• Thorough understanding of proposal and tender submission processes.
• Experience leading or supporting bids for private sector developers and clients.
• Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) qualification, or working towards one.
• APMP membership and/or accreditation.
• Experience using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
