The Opportunity

We are delivering a £300m Ministry of Justice redevelopment project in Cambridgeshire – one of the most significant public sector schemes currently underway in the UK. This landmark development will deliver state-of-the-art facilities to modern standards of sustainability, security, and efficiency.

To support this, we are seeking a Senior Project Planner to join our planning team. This is a key role, providing planning expertise across both pre-construction and delivery stages, ensuring the programme is robust, realistic, and drives successful project outcomes.

What You’ll Do:

Project: £300m Major MoJ Scheme – Cambridgeshire/Suffolk

As Senior Planner, you will:

  • Lead planning activities for a flagship £300m MoJ project, from pre-construction through to delivery and handover.
  • Develop detailed tender and construction programmes, providing accurate logic, sequencing, and resourcing.
  • Monitor and update live project programmes, collating progress information and identifying risks or delays.
  • Advise project teams on planning matters, providing technical support and guidance across all phases.
  • Produce “what-if” scenarios, recovery programmes, and mitigation strategies where required.
  • Collaborate closely with design, commercial, and delivery teams to ensure programmes are achievable and aligned with contractual obligations.
  • Support governance processes by providing regular progress reports and programme intelligence to senior leadership.
  • Attend site regularly to advise on planning and sequencing challenges, ensuring robust construction methodologies.

What You’ll Bring

We are looking for someone with:

  • Proven experience as a Planner or Senior Planner within a main contractor environment.
  • A solid background of working on large-scale projects, ideally £50m–£300m+, with experience on justice, custodial, healthcare, or major public sector schemes an advantage.
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction sequencing and buildability.
  • Proficiency in Asta Powerproject and Microsoft Project.
  • Good knowledge of NEC contract conditions and their impact on planning requirements.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • A collaborative, proactive approach with strong problem-solving ability.

Why Join Us?

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role on one of the UK’s most high-profile public sector construction programmes. You’ll be part of a forward-thinking team, working on a complex, large-scale scheme with a real social impact. In return, we offer a collaborative environment, flexible working, and the chance to progress your career on projects at the very highest level.
