Senior Project Manager – Enforcement Programme - 31908

Overview

Identify the key outcomes required from programmes and projects and present them clearly.Develop and maintain a programme plan and present it as a product to help the team track progress, join up work, and create efficiencies.Work with workstream leads to identify activities, resource requirements, milestones and required support.Set programme controls and assurance to enable adaptation to change.Advise on governance, including creating business cases; capture, manage and report risks and issues; escalate appropriately.Lead programme meetings to align and motivate the team toward common goals.Report progress to different levels of the organisation and to Defra, tailored to each audience.The Team
This role works with the Chief Regulators Group and Water Regulation in the national Environment and Business Directorate. The Water Regulation Programme Office is a new team focusing on high-profile cross-cutting work and provides a view of water industry enforcement across the organisation.Experience / Skills Required
Demonstrable experience leading projects and project teams.Understanding or experience of transforming complex organisations.Excellent communication and influencing skills for presenting complex information clearly to enable decisions.Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with dispersed stakeholders and to work with people from diverse backgrounds; actively consider diversity in work.Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritise in a fast-paced, changing environment; confident in leading teams through uncertainty and ambiguity.An understanding of water industry, regulation or enforcement activities would be useful.Other Information
Location: EA Office base; national role with flexible/hybrid working; some travel and overnight stays may be required.Contract: Advertised until end March 2026, with potential extension to end March 2027.Application process: Applications are blind assessed based on competency questions.
