The project is a complex, long term programme to develop a new component manufacturing capability to support the UK’s Nuclear deterrent. This programme requires the entire project team to operate at the highest levels of safety, security, and quality, with modern methods of construction and Design Manufacture and Assembly approaches.Responsibilities

Managing and/or directing the implementation and delivery of a range of PMO and project controls to support commissions.Directing and guiding team members within the PMO and planning centre of excellence and assigned hub as required.Lead and maintain exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability and project compliance standards; advocate Mace’s value of safety first.Provide strategic direction and monitor delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives; implement appropriate programme delivery environments including people, organisation, process, information and technology.Promote and influence quality and service excellence in all conversations and programme interactions.Manage PMO and project controls performance on assigned commissions and develop/implement the PMO and project controls framework/strategy.Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors and project teams on PMO and project controls matters; partner with clients to meet expectations and build professional relationships.Provide expert advice to the project team in PMO and project controls processes, focusing on cost, schedule, change, risk and reporting; escalate performance and management issues as required.Facilitate and drive periodic reporting and structured governance and performance meetings.Develop and manage baselines (scope, time, cost, risk, assumptions) and monitor delivery performance, change and contingencies.Contribute to quantitative analysis (cost and time).Work with PMO director and/or project manager to recognise actions, opportunities and mitigate risks and issues.Coordinate activities to ensure alignment with Mace control centre, client requirements and prevailing legislation.Line management responsibility for a team of PMO and project controls members; mentor and develop team members.Manage the integration of project controls with PMO and planning disciplines.Support HUB PMO and project controls director with resourcing and recruitment for the assigned commission.Work towards net zero carbon transition and identify/manage carbon emissions and reductions during delivery.Qualifications and experience

Relevant university degree (e.g. construction, engineering) or equivalent.Progress towards management successful programmes/P3O/P3M3 accreditation.Experience of effective PMO and project controls management on complex construction projects.Experience of setting up effective PMO and project controls services/audit and assurance frameworks/strategies.Comprehensive knowledge of risk tools, techniques and software (e.g. MS Office, Power BI, Aconex, Primavera P6 and RiskHive).Ability to manage activities with significant uncertainty of solution or outcome.Good understanding of construction projects, dependencies and interfaces within the project lifecycle and management consultancy.Deep domain knowledge of providing PMO and project controls leadership in one or more sectors (e.g. rail, highways, nuclear, public sector, hospitals).Desirable attributes

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to form effective working relationships; ability to collaborate with and influence others.Proven ability to articulate complex information for non-technical audiences; able to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.Experience in leading and influencing senior stakeholders; resilience and adaptability; commercial acumen and bid/win experience as required.Effective communication, engagement skills and the ability to persuade and network; capable of building high-performing teams.Ability to manage challenging behaviours and relationships while securing positive outcomes.Additional information
