Senior Production Supervisor
Senior Supervisor (Production)
Location: Kent
Salary: Up to £48,000
400 people on shift at peak. Product going out to the major UK retailers every day. And you''re the one making sure it all lands.
This is a Senior Supervisor role with a large high care food manufacturer, sitting as number two to the Shift Manager. It''s busy, it''s fast-paced and it''s very much a people job. If you get a buzz from walking the floor, sorting problems before they become problems and watching your team get better week on week, keep reading.
What you''ll actually be doing
Day to day, you''ll own the shift plan with the Shift Manager. That means getting the right people in the right places, moving labour around to hit output, and keeping a close eye on yield, give away and waste. You''ll run the multi-department meetings, take complex plans and turn them into clear instructions the whole team understands, and make sure food safety, CCPs and quality standards are nailed every single shift. This is a Days only role.
You''ll also be the go-to coach for your Supervisors. Training them, developing them, spotting the ones with potential and pushing them on. Performance reviews, investigations and disciplinaries sit with you too (with HR in your corner), along with T&A, rotas and agency numbers.
When the Shift Manager is off, you step up and run the show.
What you''ll bring
At least 3 years as a supervisor or manager in food manufacturing, ideally in a high care or ready-to-eat environment. You''ll have built and developed teams before and be comfortable getting results through other people. You understand how a shift hits the P&L and can talk numbers with confidence.
On paper, you''ll need IOSH Managing Safely, Food Safety Level 3 and HACCP Level 3, plus decent Excel and Microsoft skills.
The bit that matters most though is how you lead. Calm under pressure, organised, high energy and someone people actually want to follow. You''d rather coach than shout, and you''re always looking for a better way of doing things.
Why this one?
Up to £48,000, a big site with serious scale, some exciting expansion plans as well and a business that genuinely puts its values at the centre of how it runs. As a number two, you''ll get real exposure to running a shift end to end, which makes it a strong stepping stone towards Shift Manager.
