Senior Product Engineer remote at Serve LegalLocation: Remote with occasional travel to London (2 times a month). Contract: Full-time, permanent. Base Salary: £70,000–£80,000 depending on location and experience + 10% company bonus.Overview

Serve Legal is evolving from compliance auditing into AI-enabled, data-driven products, platforms, and services that shape the future of compliance and consumer intelligence. We are launching an Innovation Labs function—an agile environment to rapidly design, build, and test new client-facing digital products and AI Agents. The Senior Product Engineer will be at the heart of this effort, working with the Data Director and the Innovation Labs Data Scientist. You will own end-to-end engineering and leverage AI tooling to develop prototypes, MVPs, and productised tools and AI Agents that bring Serve Legal’s data and insights to life for clients.You’ll bring solid engineering foundations and experience with AI-enabled IDEs (Cursor, Windsurf, etc.), and you should be Keen to use AI-powered platforms to develop applications (e.g., Lovable, Replit, Bolt).This is a startup-style role inside an established SME, offering freedom to experiment, fail fast, and iterate, balanced with accountability to deliver deployable, client-ready digital products.What Youll Do

Design and Build Prototypes: Leverage AI tools to engineer digital prototypes and MVPs that translate Serve Legal datasets into usable, scalable products. Develop APIs, dashboards, and interactive client tools and agents for compliance and consumer insight.Run Innovation Labs Engineering: Partner with the Data Scientist to test, refine, and productionise algorithms and models. Apply lean/agile principles to develop proofs-of-concept quickly and effectively.Incorporate AI-enabled platforms and low-code/no-code accelerators into the team’s workflow.Product Engineering and Deployment: Build robust, cloud-native environments that enable rapid experimentation and scalable deployment. Ensure smooth transition of prototypes into production with the data team.Champion Product Innovation: Translate business and client needs into clear product engineering solutions and bridge between technical prototypes and client-facing experiences.Core Skills and Mindset

Software Engineering: strong in at least one modern language (JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Python).Web and Product Development: Frameworks (React, Node.js, Django/Flask).AI, GenAI and LLMs: OpenAI, Gemini, Grok, Llama.Agentic AI: Frameworks (langchain, langgraph, Google ADK).AI-enabled code tooling: Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot.AI-powered platform development: Lovable, Replit, Bolt.APIs and Microservices: RESTful APIs, GraphQL, microservice architectures.Cloud and DevOps: AWS, Azure, or GCP; Docker; CI/CD pipelines.Data Integration: Products integrating ML/AI models, databases, BI tools.UI/UX Awareness: Collaborate on interfaces, data visualization, user journeys.Other: Version control (Git/GitHub), testing frameworks, security and optimisation.Experience That Helps

Extensive experience in software/product/AI engineering with a track record of building client-facing products.Proven experience in rapid prototyping, innovation labs, or product RandD teams.Commercial experience with AI-enabled products using GenAI (LLMs) or ML.Familiarity with compliance, retail, FMCG, or operational intelligence systems (advantageous).Prior startup or SME experience where engineers own end-to-end delivery is highly valued.Whats in It for You
