Senior Product Engineer

Belcan seeks an experienced Senior Product Engineer for a 12-month Inside IR35 contract in Pitstone. The role involves leading engineering work packages for the development, validation, and industrialisation of smart motor and power generation technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions aligned with cost and weight targets.
• Oversee and approve design solutions; support design reviews per client governance and product introduction processes.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation, including CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and assurance reports.
• Drive risk management and continuous improvement through design investigations, root cause analysis, and lessons learned.
• Author, review, and approve technical documentation for engineering and through-life support.
• Provide training, mentoring, and leadership to engineering personnel.
• Deliver fit-for-purpose designs with a DFA/DFM approach and ''Right First Time'' philosophy.
• Ensure stakeholder satisfaction through clear communication and timely reporting.
• Meet project milestones and budgets; maintain compliance with design assurance and procedural standards.
• Achieve agreed KPIs consistently.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Aeronautical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience delivering work packages and supervising engineering teams.
• Mechanical design expertise with rotating equipment (shafts, bearings, seals, structures).
• Strong understanding of engineering materials and production methods.
• Proficiency in electromechanical design using 3D CAD tools (CATIA/NX) and PLM systems (Teamcentre, Windchill, SAP).
• Competent in MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate across teams.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Desirable

• Experience with high-speed power generation and motor technologies.
• Basic knowledge of mechatronics and electronics.
