Senior / Principal Structural Engineer

Overview

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior to Principal Structural Engineer to join our Civil and Structural team in Cardiff. The role focuses on delivery and management, with increasing business development responsibilities. We offer a people-focused culture, engaging projects, and a clearly defined progression structure. You will be part of our national Civil and Structural team and will have the opportunity to work with other divisions such as MEP, Nuclear and Smart Energy and Sustainability.

Delivery

Lead your team’s project delivery efforts, taking responsibility for all aspects of our projects, guiding engineers and technicians, and promoting design innovation.Maintain a high-level overview of your team’s projects, ensuring design is delivered correctly and in accordance with Hydrock’s quality assurance procedures and health and safety responsibilities.

Management

Resource planningManaging staff HR issuesIdentifying team weaknesses/issuesChange control/additional feesFinancial performanceDivisional task groups/design innovationContractual matters

Business Development

Ensure a sustainable stream of work through sales planning, project bids, tender interviews, client management and business networkingContribute to marketing materials and assist with business/sales planning and financial budgeting

About You

MEng or BEng in civil or structural engineeringChartered or Associate membership of IStructE/ICE OR working towards ChartershipSignificant experience in building structures designSelf-motivated team player with good people skillsStrong communication, analytical, technical design and drawing skillsExperience using analysis and design software packagesAbility to design through hand calculationsUnderstanding of BIM requirements up to and including Level 2Developing marketing/business development skills
