Senior / Principal Battery Test Engineer

Our client, a privately owned UK-based company specialising in the development of Nickel Zinc battery technology is currently looking to hire a Senior / Principal Battery Test Engineer. The successful candidate will lead and manage UK-based testing and evaluation initiatives for advanced submarine battery systems. The Senior / Principal Battery Test Engineer will: Apply deep understanding of battery system design, electrochemistry, and integrated safety features to inform test objectives and interpret results. Develop, review, and approve detailed test documentation including Test Plans, Procedures, and Reports for battery modules, packs, and system-level evaluations. Manage hazard and risk assessments associated with lithium-ion battery handling, testing, and fault simulation. Coordinate thermal runaway, short circuit, and mechanical abuse tests in compliance with relevant Defence and maritime standards. Support the generation of business cases, technical input for RFQs, and proposals for new battery testing initiatives. Collaborate with engineering peers, partners, and test facility personnel to align testing scope with project requirements and safety considerations. The Senior / Principal Battery Test Engineer will have: Bachelor s degree in Engineering (Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or related discipline).
