The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior P6 Planner to support the successful delivery of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects for a leading civil engineering contractor. Working across a portfolio of capital delivery schemes, you will play a key role in programme development, project controls, progress reporting, and schedule management throughout the project life cycle.

This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional with strong Primavera P6 expertise and a proven background delivering complex infrastructure, utilities, or water sector projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and manage detailed Primavera P6 programmes.
  • Produce baseline, target, and contract programmes for multiple live projects.
  • Carry out critical path analysis and identify programme risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor project progress against key milestones and report variances.
  • Develop resource-loaded and cost-loaded schedules where required.
  • Produce look-ahead programmes and short-term planning schedules.
  • Support project teams with programme recovery and mitigation strategies.
  • Review subcontractor programmes and integrate them into the master schedule.
  • Assist with change management, compensation events, and extension of time submissions.
  • Prepare programme reports, dashboards, S-curves, and performance updates for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate planning workshops and progress review meetings.
  • Work closely with operational, commercial, design, and client teams to ensure robust programme management.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Planner or Planner within the water, utilities, infrastructure, or civil engineering sectors.
  • Advanced user of Primavera P6.
  • Strong understanding of project controls and planning methodologies.
  • Experience developing and maintaining complex construction programmes.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts and programme obligations.
  • Ability to analyse progress, identify risks, and develop recovery plans.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Experience

  • AMP programme experience.
  • Water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping stations, pipelines, or network infrastructure experience.
  • Experience with Power BI, Asta Powerproject, or other planning software.
  • Project Controls or Planning qualifications.
