Job summaryWe are seeking a skilled Band 6 Senior Physiotherapist to join our Acute and Emergency Medicine Therapy Team. Our Therapy department is full of opportunity for enthusiastic and highly motivated Therapists wishing to expand their skills in the exciting area of acute medical care. You would be working on the acute medical wards within a Multidisciplinary Team. We pride ourselves on providing excellence in care for all of our patients under guidance of highly respected organisations such as the British Geriatrics Society (BGS) and National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE).This role is an opportunity to provide innovative and comprehensive assessment to a wide range of patient demographics arriving on the acute medical units, ensuring a wide range of skill acquisition will be achieved. You will have the opportunity to assess and treat a wide range of patient cohorts; frailty, falls, major trauma, dementia, delirium, musculoskeletal injuries, trauma, respiratory, neurological conditions and other acute or long term conditions.Main duties of the job

To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to patients in all service areas.To acquire and demonstrate knowledge of relevant pathologies, conditions, normal values relating to the specialist area of physiotherapy.To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including management of patients in your care.To undertake a comprehensive assessment and re-assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentation.To communicate effectively, using a range of verbal and non-verbal skills, with patients and carers/family to motivate, engage to participate in therapy and to ensure an understanding of their condition.To deal sensitively and constructively with patients and carers/family, who have high levels of anxiety frustration or aggression caused by a variety of issues, such as pain, poor prognosis or limited mobility.To plan and prioritise own caseload independently on a day-to-day basis to ensure patients are appropriately seen, in conjunction with the priorities of the team and to give assistance to other team members as required.To be flexible in the organisation of own caseload and to respond to predictable and unpredictable service needs throughout the day.About us At Imperial College Healthcare you can achieve extraordinary things with extraordinary people, working with leading clinicians pushing boundaries in patient care.Become part of a vibrant team living our values - expert, kind, collaborative and aspirational.
