We are seeking a Senior PHP Laravel Developer to join our growing team at Verge. This is a full-time, on-site role (with hybrid flexibility depending on experience).As a Senior Developer, you’ll go beyond coding—you’ll lead on backend development, mentor junior developers, and help set technical direction for our products. You’ll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining backend systems, ensuring scalability, performance, and security across both internal and client projects.This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex problems, enjoys taking ownership of projects, and wants to make a real impact in a purpose-driven agency environment.Key Responsibilities
Lead the development of backend systems using PHP and the Laravel frameworkArchitect and optimise databases for performance and scalabilityOversee the integration of RESTful APIs and third-party servicesCollaborate closely with front-end developers and designers to deliver seamless digital experiencesEnsure best practices in code quality, testing, and deploymentMentor and support junior developers, fostering a culture of learning and growthContribute to technical decision-making and product architecture discussionsMonitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve backend systemsQualifications
Strong proficiency in
PHP and Laravel framework , with extensive professional experienceAdvanced experience with
MySQL , including optimisation and complex queriesSolid understanding of
MVC architecture
and API-driven developmentFamiliarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for effective collaborationExperience with
version control systems
such as GitKnowledge of
server management, deployment processes, and cloud hostingStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to design scalable, maintainable solutionsExcellent communication and leadership skills, with proven experience mentoring or leading teamsTrack record of delivering high-quality projects on time and at scalePerks
