About the Role
As Senior MEP Engineer in Birmingham, you will serve as the technical authority for design, installation, testing, and commissioning across extensive infrastructure works. This contract, full-time position offers £70,000–£85,000 annually, with PAYE or LTD options and accommodation available. You will collaborate with design, construction, and commissioning colleagues to ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulatory obligations on a long-term project. Acting as the subject matter expert for allocated assets, you will oversee handover activities and guarantee that complex systems meet project requirements. This role is central to delivering one of Europe’s largest construction programmes, requiring robust technical leadership and meticulous attention to quality.
AA Euro Group is currently seeking a Senior MEP Engineer to join a client of ours delivering large scale infrastructure works across the Birmingham area.
The Senior MEP Engineer will act as the technical authority for MEP design, installation, testing, commissioning and handover activities, ensuring compliance with project requirements, engineering standards and regulatory obligations. Working closely with design, construction and commissioning teams, the role is critical to ensuring the successful delivery of complex infrastructure systems across one of Europe's largest construction programmes.

Key Accountabilities:
- Act as the MEP Subject Matter Expert for allocated HS2 assets, facilities and infrastructure works.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on mechanical, electrical and public health engineering matters.
- Review design deliverables, technical specifications, calculations and construction methodologies.
- Support design assurance and technical approval processes.
- Ensure MEP systems comply with standards, industry regulations and project requirements.
- Manage technical interfaces between MEP, architectural, civil, structural and rail systems.
- Provide solutions to complex engineering and construction challenges.
- Review subcontractor submissions, RFIs, technical queries and design change requests.
- Support installation, testing, commissioning, validation and handover activities.
- Conduct inspections, audits and quality reviews to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Identify technical risks, opportunities and value engineering initiatives.
- Support project planning and programme delivery by providing expert engineering advice.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, consultants, supply chain partners and client representatives.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental and quality standards throughout project delivery.
Essential Experience:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards professional accreditation.
- Significant experience delivering MEP systems on major infrastructure, rail, transportation, utilities or construction projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of building services and infrastructure MEP systems.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary interfaces and complex engineering challenges.
- Understanding of applicable British Standards, Building Regulations and industry best practices
- Experience supporting construction, commissioning and handover activities.
- Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance, testing and commissioning processes.
