Senior Mediation Officer

About the RoleAn experienced Senior SEND Mediations Officer is required to join a Local Authority SEND service, with a particular focus on mediation, dispute resolution and SEND Tribunal work.This role is suited to an experienced professional who can confidently manage complex mediation cases, tribunal proceedings and high-profile disputes, taking ownership of an active caseload from day one.Working closely with families, schools, health partners and legal colleagues, you will play a key role in securing timely, lawful and child-centred outcomes while helping to resolve disputes wherever possible and reducing the need for Tribunal hearings.Key ResponsibilitiesLead on complex SEND mediation cases, providing expert oversight throughout the mediation process.Manage a caseload of high-risk and sensitive cases, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.Work collaboratively with families, schools, health partners, legal colleagues and other professionals to resolve disputes.Represent the Local Authority confidently during mediation meetings and SEND Tribunal proceedings where required.Provide specialist advice and guidance to colleagues on complex SEND legislation and dispute resolution.Identify and manage risks, ensuring statutory requirements and timescales are met.Support continuous improvement across mediation practice, promoting consistency and best practice.Build positive relationships with families and stakeholders to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and ..... full job details .....
