Senior Mechanical/Pipeline Engineer (Energy Transition) at WSP. Location: flexible across the UK office network.What you will do
Join WSP''s Energy Transition Team as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, leading the development of mechanical designs for transmission projects, including natural gas (below and above 7 bar), hydrogen, carbon dioxide, LNG terminals and biogas. You may also work on projects within the wider energy portfolio, including conventional power plants, energy-from-waste plants, industrial facilities and carbon capture schemes. Our UK Energy Transition team supports clients from inception through development, construction, operation and decommissioning.We cover all thermal generation and conversion technologies including novel, first-of-a-kind concepts and low/zero-carbon technologies such as future fuels and carbon capture, utilisation and storage. You will work with private developers, power utilities, government bodies, banks, contractors and OEMs to deliver projects safely while meeting client expectations.The candidate should have experience in delivering concept, FEED and detailed design work and be familiar with working for an OEM, EPC Contractor, or similar organization. Location is flexible across our UK office network.A typical week
Work with the project team to develop cost-effective, efficient and innovative solutions and to create practical designs.Contribute to projects at various maturity stages: feasibility studies, concept designs, FEED studies, value engineering and detailed design, with opportunities for site work during development, construction and commissioning.Prepare pipeline deliverables and above-ground installations such as wall thickness calculations and piping specifications.Undertake pipeline routing and population studies.Collaborate with other engineering disciplines in the development of designs.Support development of layouts and 3D models.Develop proposals and bids for piping and layout, and contribute to multi-disciplinary proposals.What we are looking for
A Degree in a relevant Engineering subject.Chartered Engineer or working towards IEng/CEng and a member of the relevant Engineering Institute.Experience in the gas industry.Ability and desire to lead the development of pipeline and AGI engineering deliverables.Knowledge of national and international codes and standards for design and manufacturing of plant equipment and piping.Experience of pipeline and AGI design.Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team on plant 3D models.Understanding of the design process and ability to work with briefs/scope documents, design concepts, and calculations.Experience in operational and integrity troubleshooting and problem solving.Familiarity with Autodesk products (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, BIM360).Proficiency with MS Office for technical reports, specifications, schedules and calculations.Experience of working with clients and contractors with diverse objectives to achieve a technical solution.Don\''t quite meet all the criteria?
