We are pleased to be assisting our client , a top 10 building service contractor on their search for a Senior Project Engineer in London. This is a strategic role where you''ll deliver complex mechanical and electrical (M&E) projects with technical accuracy, programme efficiency, and compliance with industry standards as well as oversee project specifications, coordinating both design and installation activities. You will also ensure successful integration of mechanical and electrical systems along with collaborating closely with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to address engineering challenges. This role also requires you to optimise workflow to improve efficiency , productivity and maintain quality standards throughout all stages of project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead development from Stage 004 design to Stage 005 detailed construction, installation, and maintenance of M&E systems.
- Attend site inspections, review technical drawings, and oversee detailed design and installation of capital equipment.
- Apply industry, rail, and safety standards to designs, installations, and quality assurance.
- Act as liaison between engineering, construction, and client teams.
- Oversee M&E system integration for efficiency and reliability.
- Ensure consistent use of digital operations tools (SharePoint, ACC, InnDex, Openspace).
- Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance across projects.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement hazard mitigation strategies.
- Promote safety-first culture and monitor adherence to safety standards.
- Align project delivery with contractual obligations and minimise delays.
- Contribute to programme planning with project management.
- Lead supplier negotiations and manage procurement to meet technical and cost requirements.
- Resolve procurement risks and manage safe storage and delivery of materials.
- Manage installation, commissioning, and integration of M&E systems.
- Lead troubleshooting, testing, validation, and sign-off of installations.
- Escalate and resolve engineering challenges with value-engineered solutions.
- Conduct final inspections and validate compliance with specifications.
- Manage commissioning and validation documentation.
- Oversee defect resolution, snagging, and project handover.
- Compile lessons learned for continuous improvement.
Personal Requirements:
- CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certification or equivalent.
- Valid Black Managers Skill Card (CSCS, ECS, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience in developing specifications, executing designs, and managing installation and commissioning of complex M&E systems.
- Strong understanding of construction site operations, engineering standards, and regulatory compliance.
- HNC or degree in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred; equivalent experience considered.
