Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking for a new opportunity with an established consultancy working across a varied portfolio of technically challenging projects?
An established, privately owned multidisciplinary consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Nottingham office. The successful candidate will work on a diverse range of projects across sectors including healthcare, education, residential, commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical and public sector.

The consultancy delivers projects across healthcare, education, residential, commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, zero-carbon and public sector markets, with a strong focus on sustainable and research-led design.
The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering mechanical engineering design across a variety of projects, working with a high degree of autonomy while also supporting more junior members of the team.
You will have the opportunity to take a lead role on selected projects, work directly with clients and contribute throughout the project lifecycle from inception through to completion.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Acting as Project Leader on selected projects
• Working as part of a wider multidisciplinary team on larger projects
• Attending project meetings and making client presentations
• Providing technical guidance and support to more junior members of the team
• Supporting technical excellence within the mechanical engineering team
• Developing relationships with key clients and supporting repeat business
• Working on a variety of technically challenging projects across different sectors
• Taking a client-facing role throughout projects from inception to completion
• Producing mechanical engineering drawings and specifications
• Producing calculations and supporting others with their calculations
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver projects to a high standard and within agreed timescales

You should have:

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
• HNC/HND with suitable building services design experience will also be considered
• Chartered status or currently working towards Chartership
• Experience using relevant engineering design software, including Revit
• Knowledge of British and European Standards and Building Regulations
• Knowledge of HTMs would be beneficial
• Professional membership of CIBSE, IET or a similar professional body
• Knowledge of sustainable design and renewable technologies
• Working knowledge of BREEAM
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to
