Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking for a new opportunity with an established consultancy working across a varied portfolio of technically challenging projects£
An established, privately owned multidisciplinary consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Nottingham office. The successful candidate will work on a diverse range of projects across sectors including healthcare, education, residential, commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical and public sector.

The consultancy delivers projects across healthcare, education, residential, commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, zero-carbon and public sector markets, with a strong focus on sustainable and research-led design.
The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering mechanical engineering design across a variety of projects, working with a high degree of autonomy while also supporting more junior members of the team.
You will have the opportunity to take a lead role on selected projects, work directly with clients and contribute throughout the project lifecycle from inception through to completion.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as Project Leader on selected projects
- Working as part of a wider multidisciplinary team on larger projects
- Attending project meetings and making client presentations
- Providing technical guidance and support to more junior members of the team
- Supporting technical excellence within the mechanical engineering team
- Developing relationships with key clients and supporting repeat business
- Working on a variety of technically challenging projects across different sectors
- Taking a client-facing role throughout projects from inception to completion
- Producing mechanical engineering drawings and specifications
- Producing calculations and supporting others with their calculations
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver projects to a high standard and within agreed timescales
You should have:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
- HNC/HND with suitable building services design experience will also be considered
- Chartered status or currently working towards Chartership
- Experience using relevant engineering design software, including Revit
- Knowledge of British and European Standards and Building Regulations
- Knowledge of HTMs would be beneficial
- Professional membership of CIBSE, IET or a similar professional body
- Knowledge of sustainable design and renewable technologies
- Working knowledge of BREEAM
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to
