The Opportunity
As a Mechanical Engineer, you''ll provide vital technical support to transformative projects while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project managers. Reporting to the Head of MEICA, you''ll contribute to the design and delivery of cutting-edge engineering and environmental improvement projects for diverse clients throughout the UK.
This role offers the flexibility of hybrid working, though you''ll be based primarily in Leeds to foster strong relationships with your local team. Every team member receives a substantial training budget to pursue professional development activities, including support for Incorporation and Chartership.
You''ll become part of an established, international, environmental and engineering consultancy that retains a family feel while pacing sustainability and climate change resilience at the core of its strategy.
Your Role
Your responsibilities will include creating and contributing to essential mechanical engineering documentation such as P&I diagrams, mechanical schedules, pump system calculations, equipment datasheets, and sub-contractor work specifications. You''ll represent the MEICA team in both internal project meetings and external client discussions, ensuring technical excellence throughout project delivery.
Who We''re Looking For
We''re seek an enthusiastic Mechanical Engineer with a genuine passion for delivering projects that benefit society. You''ll demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and thrive working within multidisciplinary teams.
Essential Requirements:
- Relevant post-graduate experience (BEng, MEng, or equivalent in relevant discipline)
- Progress towards professional membership (IEng or CEng)
- Proven experience in delivering water and or similarly regulated sectors
- Strong understanding of engineering principles with excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Self-motivated with exceptional organisational skills
Alternative Backgrounds Welcome: Given the skills shortage in the water sector, we encourage applications from candidates with solid engineering foundations, including those from:
- HVAC and building services engineering backgrounds
- Process engineering in manufacturing or chemical industries
- Mechanical design roles in automotive, aerospace, or industrial sectors
- Plant and facilities engineering experience
- Building automation systems and controls engineering
- Energy and utilities sectors outside water
- Technical sales or project management roles with strong mechanical engineering foundations
Desirable:
- Full UK driving licence would be advantageous
