Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer – Building Services Consultancy
We are working exclusively with a respected multi-disciplinary consultancy to appoint a Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer to their South Manchester or city centre office.
This role offers an excellent balance between hands-on mechanical design and client-facing responsibilities. You’ll take ownership of project delivery, building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, architects, and design teams, while ensuring high-quality design output across a range of building services projects. Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design delivery across multi-sector building services projects
- Act as a client-facing engineer, developing briefs, attending meetings, and providing technical guidance
- Produce, review, and coordinate detailed design work, ensuring integration with other disciplines
- Mentor and support junior engineers, promoting technical excellence and professional growth
- Contribute to proposals, bids, and wider business development activity where needed
- Ensure compliance with current regulations, standards, and sustainable design practices
- Manage resources, timelines, and budgets to ensure successful project delivery
About You
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
- Chartered or working toward CEng status with CIBSE or IMechE
- 7–10 years’ experience within a UK building services consultancy
- Strong technical design background with experience delivering projects across multiple sectors
- Excellent communication skills, confident in a client-facing capacity
- Ability to coordinate and lead project delivery within multi-disciplinary teams
