You will be the Senior Manager for Technical Accounting and Financial Services, responsible for the Technical Accounting Team and for producing the Statement of Accounts, plus the Financial Services covering procure to pay, income collection to debt recovery, and ensuring robust financial controls. The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Manager for Business Partnering and Financial Planning. You will be an active member of the Finance Management Team with responsibility for the managerial leadership of the Finance Division of the Resources Directorate, fostering a culture that reflects the Council\''s values and behaviours.We strive for service development and continuous improvement in service performance and the delivery of high-quality strategic aims and performance targets.Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate the Technical Accounting Team, manage accounting policies and practices, and produce the Statement of Accounts.Oversee Financial Services covering procure to pay, income collection to debt recovery, and ensure robust financial controls across the organisation.Collaborate with the Senior Manager for Business Partnering and Financial Planning and contribute to the Finance Management Team and broader Council initiatives.Promote a culture of service development, continuous improvement, and achievement of strategic targets within the Finance Division.Who we are looking for (Qualifications and Experience)
Management experience at a senior level in a large, complex organisation with proven leadership of professional finance staff.Substantial knowledge of the Local Authority financial environment and technical accounting requirements.Awareness of financial operations, including systems, policies, practices, procedures, legislation, and major sectoral issues.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.Strong leadership abilities with evidence of developing and managing multi-disciplinary teams.Proven ability to work as part of cross-directorate teams and initiatives across the Council.Successful track record in developing effective working relationships and networking.Full CCAB accounting qualification.Application information
