Job Purpose:

• The post holder must carry out the duties with full regard to the Council’s Corporate Plan, the Corporate Equality and Diversity Policy, Health and Safety Policy and Social Inclusion Strategy
• To provide legal and administrative support, where appropriate, under the supervision of the Legal Services Manager, Senior Solicitors, Solicitors and senior legal assistants from the legal Safeguarding Team on children’s and adult’s safeguarding, education and associated matters, including pre proceedings cases, education prosecutions, criminal injuries compensation and disclosure of information to third parties.
• To attend court / tribunal with fee earners and/or counsel as required.
• To assist in management of diaries, arrange appointments, travel arrangements, room/venue booking and equipment booking for the Legal Safeguarding Team.
• To be involved in the legal and administrative support of high profile and complex safeguarding matters under the supervision of the Legal Services Manager, Senior Solicitors, Solicitors and/or senior Legal Assistants from the Legal Safeguarding Team
• To be involved in the legal and administrative support of litigation and other proceedings involving the Council including; preparation and service of court and tribunal documents, managing external lawyers including counsel, liaising with courts and tribunals, liaising with external parties in litigation including opposing legal advisers, experts and witnesses and working with internal clients involved in proceedings.
• To undertake other legal work as appropriate including creation and management of court bundles.
• To provide regular support to the Legal Services Manager (Safeguarding) and occasional support to the Director of Law & Governance
