Senior Java Developer

We are seeking Senior Java Developers to join a digital engineering team supporting DWP Universal Credit. This is a hands-on senior role requiring strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Kafka and MongoDB. You will develop scalable and resilient services, provide technical leadership, and mentor junior developers. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test and maintain high-quality Java applications and services. Take ownership of complex technical solutions and system integrations. Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to other developers. Contribute to architecture, technical strategy and engineering best practice. Review code and system designs to ensure quality and appropriate standards. Support application and infrastructure issues, including 3rd-line support where required. Contribute to integration, automated testing, CI/CD and production support. Promote security, resilience, accessibility and operational stability. Collaborate with architects, product teams and wider engineering communities. Identify risks and drive continuous improvement. Essential Skills Extensive commercial Java experience. Strong Spring Boot experience. Practical AWS experience. Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture. MongoDB / NoSQL databases. REST APIs and microservices. Automated testing, TDD/BDD and CI/CD.
