Contract: 12 months Locations: Manchester, Leeds or Birmingham Working Arrangement: 60% office attendance from one of the following locations: Manchester Leeds Birmingham IR35: Inside IR35 Day Rate: 750 per day via Umbrella Security: candidates must be eligible for SC clearance The Opportunity We are looking for experienced Senior Java Developers to join a large-scale digital transformation programme delivering critical public services. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior software engineer who enjoys working hands-on with modern Java technologies while providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to other developers. You will play a key role in designing, developing and maintaining robust, resilient and high-quality digital services, while helping teams adopt and maintain strong software engineering practices. Key Responsibilities Develop high-quality, maintainable software using Java and Spring Boot. Design and develop reusable libraries, services and APIs. Contribute to the design and delivery of scalable and resilient digital services. Provide technical leadership and guidance across software engineering teams. Review code and technical designs, ensuring engineering standards are maintained. Coach and mentor junior and mid-level developers. Work collaboratively with Architecture, Engineering, Delivery and other technical teams. Design and support system integrations and integration testing.
