Role OverviewThe ITS Engineering and Consultancy team sits within Technology Services in the TMS Division. We support clients from feasibility through detailed design to post-installation analysis for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). We deliver high-quality transport technology solutions for local roads, the highway network, and public transport. We are expanding a skilled, customer-focused ITS team to develop and implement schemes for local, national, and international highway projects, including high-profile smart motorways and local equipment installations (e.g., VMS, CCTV, meteorological stations).

We are seeking an individual who will contribute technically to the ITS Engineering and Consultancy team. Depending on the project, you may be seconded to a client in the South East region with weekly travel to Hampshire. Your Mott MacDonald office location will be discussed at interview. Travel may be coordinated with colleagues based in Bristol and Southampton offices.

Candidate SpecificationYou will likely have an engineering background with design input to ITS projects. You will have a detailed understanding of ITS and related technologies, and insight into developing transport trends and their operational applications to meet client needs.

Essential

BEng / BSc in engineering or related subject, or relevant professional experience

Experience in the design of ITS schemes in the UK

Good working knowledge of national standards, equipment capabilities, and design specifications

Working towards Chartered status with a relevant institution

Desirable

Experience of working with National Highways and UK local authorities

Experience of designing major ITS schemes

Experience of working in a collaborative environment

Project management experience in an ITS context

Ability to develop relationships and engender trust with clients and partners

Excellent communication skills

Strong initiative

Sector 8 Accreditation
