Location: Gloucester (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 + Excellent Benefits
 
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to play a key role in supporting, developing and enhancing their global IT infrastructure. This is a senior technical position, ideal for someone who enjoys remaining hands-on whilst taking ownership of enterprise infrastructure projects, driving technical improvements and acting as a senior escalation point across the IT function.
 
Working within a collaborative IT team, you''ll help ensure business-critical systems remain secure, resilient and highly available while contributing to the future direction of the organisation''s infrastructure.
 
What you''ll be doing

• Designing, implementing and maintaining secure, scalable IT infrastructure across multiple sites.
• Supporting enterprise networking, virtualisation, server infrastructure and Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Leading the technical delivery of infrastructure projects, including upgrades, migrations and new technology implementations.
• Acting as the senior technical escalation point for complex infrastructure issues and major incidents.
• Performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term improvements to increase resilience and performance.
• Supporting disaster recovery planning, business continuity testing and infrastructure resilience initiatives.
• Working closely with internal stakeholders to understand technical requirements and deliver robust infrastructure solutions.
• Collaborating with third-party vendors and service providers to support infrastructure services and project delivery.
• Ensuring infrastructure complies with security best practice and standards including ISO 27001, GDPR and Cyber Essentials.
• Identifying opportunities to modernise infrastructure through automation, cloud adoption and emerging technologies.

 
What we''re looking for

• Significant experience in senior infrastructure engineering or technical infrastructure roles.
• Strong expertise across Microsoft infrastructure, networking, virtualisation and enterprise systems administration.
• Proven experience with Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud environments.
• Experience supporting VMware environments.
• Strong understanding of enterprise networking, storage, backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Experience delivering infrastructure projects from design through to implementation.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
• Knowledge of infrastructure security, patch management and vulnerability remediation.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and change management principles would be beneficial.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

Desirable Certifications

• Microsoft Azure certifications (Azure Administrator or equivalent)
• VMware certifications
• CompTIA Security+
• ITIL Foundation or equivalent
