Are you an experienced data protection professional looking to make a meaningful impact? The London Borough of Hackney is seeking a Senior Information Officer to lead on data protection, information requests, and team supervision within Children and Families Services.
In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring data integrity, statutory compliance, and safe information sharing to support the well-being of children and families across the borough.
Key Responsibilities
- Information Requests: Oversee and process complex, sensitive Subject Access Requests (SARs) and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, ensuring full statutory compliance.
- Leadership & Line Management: Supervise and mentor a team of up to 4 Information Officers, managing performance, appraisals, and day-to-day guidance.
- Data Protection & Governance: Serve as the lead on data protection policies, GDPR, and the Data Protection Act for the directorate, providing expert guidance to colleagues and managers.
- Data Security & Systems: Proactively manage system data integrity and collaborate with ICT to ensure robust security and accurate statutory reporting.
- Innovation & Process Improvement: Research, pilot, and champion new functionality and tech tools (including AI) to streamline workflows and enhance customer experience.
Key Requirements
- Data Governance Expertise: Extensive experience processing complex SARs, FOIs, and handling sensitive information under strict confidentiality guidelines.
- Leadership Skills: Proven track record of supervising, mentoring, or managing staff.
- Children''s Services Experience: Background working within Children''s Services or a local authority environment is highly desirable.
- Analytical & Tech Proficient: Exceptional analytical abilities and strong skills across complex IT systems and databases.
