Location: London (2 days per week onsite near St Pancras)
Salary: -60,000 to -70,000 + Benefits Package
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Human Factors Consultant to join a growing consultancy team delivering complex, high-profile infrastructure and transportation projects across the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines strong technical Human Factors expertise with commercial awareness and the ability to build client relationships, generate work, and lead project delivery in safety-critical environments.
You will play a key role in delivering and leading Human Factors work across major programmes including rail infrastructure, HS2, Euston developments, depot projects, London Underground schemes, and RSSB-related work.
The role is ideally suited to a consultant who enjoys both winning and delivering work, mentoring junior team members, and working collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver Human Factors consultancy projects across rail and other high-hazard industries
- Produce and oversee Human Factors deliverables to a high technical standard
- Lead bid activity, proposals and tender submissions
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships
- Generate new business opportunities and support strategic growth
- Manage project packages, including commercial planning and reporting
- Mentor and support junior consultants within the team
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and design teams
- Champion the value of Human Factors within complex infrastructure projects
Project Exposure
You will have the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio including:
- HS2
- Euston developments
- Depot and operational rail projects
- London Underground
- RSSB-related initiatives
- Wider transportation and infrastructure schemes
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Human Factors, Psychology, Systems Engineering or a related discipline
- Chartered status or working towards chartership with the British Psychological Society (BPS) or Institute of Ergonomics & Human Factors (IEHF)
- Strong consultancy background within Human Factors
- Experience working in high-hazard or safety-critical sectors such as rail, aviation or energy
- Strong understanding of Human Factors methods and applications
- Ability to manage clients, lead projects and contribute commercially
- CRE experience highly desirable
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following areas would be advantageous:
- Task analysis and workload assessment
- Cognitive ergonomics
- Physical ergonomics
- Environmental design
- Organisational behaviour
- Human reliability assessment
