Senior Human Factors Consultant

We are expanding our Derby office and are looking for a
Senior Human Factors Consultant
to work on projects in Nuclear, Rail, Defence and Infrastructure. The AtkinsRéalis Human Factors team has a presence across multiple UK locations including London, Bristol, Manchester and Derby. This role offers exciting project work and the opportunity to contribute directly to projects while building and developing relationships with internal AtkinsRéalis teams and external clients.Our Derby office is centrally located with excellent connectivity to key clients in the region and beyond, and provides a dynamic environment for collaboration with experts across multiple disciplines.Your PurposeAs a senior member of our growing team, you will have direct responsibility for developing and maintaining client relationships with major operators and engineering companies that are our core business, while contributing to the strategy and direction of our dynamic team of Human Factors professionals and supporting leadership of the technical capability.ResponsibilitiesLead client Human Factors and Ergonomics work packages, managing technical delivery to project programmes and contributing to AtkinsRéalis bids and initiatives.Work on a wide variety of projects across sectors including Nuclear, Energy Transition, Defence and other Transportation and Infrastructure areas.Support the strategic growth and development of the Derby office and the wider team, including mentoring junior colleagues and shaping regional service offerings.Develop and maintain relationships with internal teams and external clients to deliver integrated Human Factors solutions.What You Can BringDegree or experience in Human Factors or Applied Psychology or related field.Substantial experience delivering HF work packages within high hazard industries such as Nuclear.Substantial experience in the use of Human Factors methods and techniques.Knowledge in the application of Human Factors standards and guidelines.Excellent report writing and presentation skills.Experience of managing and planning HF delivery to projects (HF Integration).Desirable qualificationsPost graduate degree in Human Factors or Applied Psychology or related field.Experience of working within other ‘Regulated’ industries.Knowledge of Human Factors Assessment techniques in relation to international standards and familiarity with latest UK regulatory developments relevant to major hazard industries.Training Needs Analysis.CAD / visualisation skills.Record for public speaking and publishing papers.Membership / Fellowship of a recognised professional society.Project Management skills.Why Derby?Our Derby office serves as a key hub for our engineering and consultancy operations in the Midlands region and offers:A strategic location with excellent transport links to London, Birmingham, and Manchester.Proximity to several key clients in the nuclear, rail, aerospace, and manufacturing sectors.A rich engineering heritage, particularly in nuclear, rail and aerospace.Affordable living costs compared to other major UK cities.Access to the Peak District countryside.A growing professional services sector with opportunities for career development.Why work for AtkinsRéalis?The UK is the first major economy to legislate for a Net Zero target by 2050.
