Senior HR Manager | Legal Secretaries | Paralegal | HR | Business SupportAJ Chambers is working with a Top North London Law Firm and has a great opportunity for a Part-time Senior HR Manager to join the team.

OverviewThe role provides strategic HR leadership and end-to-end HR support for a top North London law firm, operating on a part-time basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic HR leadership

Developing and implementing the firm’s HR strategy in alignment with business objectives

Advising senior leadership on HR trends, workforce planning, and organisational development

Driving initiatives that enhance employee engagement, equity, diversity, and inclusion (DEI)

Employee relations

Serving as a trusted adviser to partners and employees on HR policies, procedures, and employment law compliance

Handling complex employee relations cases with professionalism and discretion

Promoting a positive workplace culture and addressing conflicts proactively

Conducting investigations for disciplinary and grievance processes; drafting correspondence for formal processes

Ensuring compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations

Administration

Overseeing HR administration across the entire employment lifecycle (recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, retention, leavers)

Overseeing changes to terms and conditions documentation and processes

Managing the HR database (audits, inputting, updating)

Managing the salary review process

Payroll, benefits administration, and HR systems in partnership with Accounts

Talent and performance management

Overseeing all aspects of recruitment

Providing expertise on talent management, performance-related processes, and promotions

Developing a consistent performance evaluation process across the firm

Engaging with new joiners for feedback and implementing process improvements

Tracking staff movements to inform resource planning

Participating in performance improvement plans when appropriate

Change Management

Supporting growth, mergers, or restructuring with smooth transitions

Fostering a culture of adaptability and innovation

Learning and development

Creating and improving learning and development programs for new staff and trainees

Enhancing internal training and knowledge sharing across the firm

Designing training tailored to legal and non-legal staff

Monitoring and evaluating training effectiveness and ROI

Data and insight

Collating data and producing analysis and KPI reporting

Monitoring attrition quarterly and providing trends to the partnership

Analyzing sickness absence and maintaining absence analysis spreadsheets

Producing management information and bespoke reports

Reporting on exit information and trends; conducting exit interviews as appropriate

Providing monthly and ad hoc data analyses ensuring data integrity

Employee experience

Developing and applying company policies; handling HR queries promptly

Organising induction processes and welcoming new joiners

Supporting wellbeing, diversity, and inclusion initiatives

Identifying training and development opportunities

Conducting exit interviews and reporting feedback

Monitoring sickness absence and coordinating occupational health referrals

HR guidance and advice

Building relationships and advising staff on policies and procedures to ensure consistent practice

Providing confidential HR guidance and career counseling as required

Offering HR operational service to staff and supporting day-to-day HR issues

Office support

Office support across all locations; occasional line management and procurement support

2 days per week in the office, rotating between four offices

Key Skills and Experience

Experience: 7+ years in HR management, preferably within a law firm or professional services

Education: CIPD Level 5 qualification or above

Knowledge: Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices in the legal sector

Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to influence at all levels

Technology: Proficiency in HR tools; tech-savvy with an eye for innovation

Leadership: Proven ability to lead, inspire, and manage teams

The role will offer a salary of circa £75k full-time equivalent with an excellent benefits package.
