Position: Senior Highway Engineer
Location: Preston, PR1 8RE
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 3+ Months
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Pay Rate: PAYE: £ 206.78 Per day

Job Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and expertise on highway engineering projects.
• Design, review and assess highway engineering schemes.
• Ensure work complies with relevant legislation, standards and local authority requirements.
• Prepare and review technical reports, drawings and project documentation.
• Liaise with internal teams, contractors and external stakeholders.
• Monitor project progress and provide technical advice to support delivery.
• Assist with resolving engineering and design issues as they arise.

Person Specification
Must-Have Requirements

• Proven experience in highway engineering.
• Strong technical knowledge of highway design and engineering standards.
• Ability to prepare and review technical documentation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Eligible to work in the UK.
• Successful interview and CV assessment.
• Satisfactory references covering the last two years, including verification of any employment gaps.
• Valid National Insurance number.
• All required licences, qualifications and professional registrations verified before appointment.

Nice-to-Have Requirements

• Previous experience working within a local authority environment.
• Experience managing or supporting multiple highway projects.
• Knowledge of Lancashire County Council procedures and standards.
