Full time and part time posts will be considered; shifts include long days, nights, weekends, and public holidays. Providing direct patient care including meeting hygiene, continence, nutrition, pressure area care and mobility needsTaking and recording patients'' vital signs, identifying and escalating changes to a patient''s conditionProviding one-to-one observation for high-risk or vulnerable patientsUndertaking training and competencies related to the role, such as ECGs, venepuncture, cannulation, and other departmental competenciesEscorting patients to departments such as x-ray and theatresMaintaining department cleanliness, tidiness and stock levelsTraining and supporting new and junior team membersSupporting the registered nursing team in high-quality pre- and post-operative carePerson Specification

Qualifications

Essential: Level 2 English and MathsCare Certificate in Acute Care achieved through NHSRecognised Level 3 qualificationDesirable: Level 3 Health and Social Care qualificationExperience

Essential: Previous NHS Healthcare Support Worker experience (minimum 6 months)Essential: Ability to work as part of a teamDesirable: Experience training and supporting new staffKnowledge and Skills

Understanding of the role of Healthcare Support Worker in a hospital settingTrust vision, values and behaviours and strategic objectivesEffective communication and IT skillsCaring, compassionate, empathetic and patient-centered careWillingness to undertake extended skills (e.g., venepuncture, cannulation, ECGs) as appropriateOther Requirements
