Location Pershore
Hours full time Monday - Thursday: 07:45am - 5:15pm
Friday: 07:45am - 1:00pm enjoy early finishes on Fridays as part of a structured full-time working week.
Salary -13.9514.42 per hour

Job description

We are a trusted manufacturer within the Defence sector supply chain, committed to delivering products that make a real impact. We are looking for an experienced Senior Goods Inwards & Subcontract Controller to take ownership of stores processes, including goods-in, raw material warehousing, subcontract transfers, inventory control, and waste management.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you''ll ensure effective inventory management, accurate stock records, and compliance with health, safety, and security standards. Working closely with procurement, quality, and production teams, you''ll maintain smooth material flow, eliminate waste, and uphold best practices across the stores function.

Duties
Goods Inwards
Receive, check, and record all incoming deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes

Subcontract Control
Prepare and dispatch materials to subcontractors with correct documentation
Track and monitor subcontract orders to ensure timely return of goods
Verify quality and quantity of returned items before release to production
Maintain records of subcontract activity for audit and traceability purposes

Process & Continuous Improvement
Implement lean practices and 5S methodology across goods inwards and subcontract areas
Identify process inefficiencies and propose improvements
Support audits and compliance checks (ISO, customer requirements, etc.)
Contribute to KPIs such as on-time delivery, stock accuracy, and supplier performance
Inspect goods for quality, damage, and compliance with specifications
Maintain accurate stock records and update ERP/MRP systems
Organise and store materials in designated areas using 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)
Liaise with suppliers regarding discrepancies, shortages, or damaged goods

Qualifications
Completion of Secondary Education
Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence

Essential skills
Previous work in a production, assembly or manufacturing environment

Desirable skills

Experience of working within the Railway and Defence sector
Clear communication skills with suppliers and internal departments
IT skills to record incoming goods involving scanning of receipts
Attention to detail to check quantities and verify goods against delivery note or advice notes
Be able to lift and carry using correct techniques
Understand Health & Safety to maintain a secure and safe working environment
Basic numeracy ability
