An established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing Wigan office. This is a design-focused role, ideal for someone with 5-7 years'' UK consultancy experience looking to take ownership of technically challenging projects and progress towards principal level.

The Role

You will play a key role in delivering geotechnical design solutions across a range of infrastructure and development projects, working from concept through to detailed design.

Key responsibilities:

• Undertake geotechnical design including foundations, retaining walls, slopes, and earthworks
• Interpret ground investigation data and develop ground models
• Produce and review design calculations in line with Eurocodes and UK standards
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and design documentation
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams
• Support and mentor junior engineers
• Contribute to project planning and delivery

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Engineering Geology
• 5-7 years'' experience in a geotechnical design role (consultancy preferred)
• Strong understanding of UK standards and Eurocodes
• Experience with design software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar
• Proven experience in foundation design, retaining structures, and slope stability
• Strong communication and report writing skills

Desirable

• Working towards Chartership (ICE, GeolSoc or similar)
• Experience on infrastructure or large-scale development projects
