Job Role: We''re searching for either an interim or permanent dynamic Senior Financial Controller, located within commuting distance to Warrington, Cheshire who is commercial, energetic, refreshing and challenges our status-quo in order to achieve our ambitious business plan. Job Summary:
As a key influential role within the company''s leadership team, the Financial Controller will oversee all financial activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and the development of financial strategies to drive company growth. The role involves managing financial risks, maintaining internal controls, preparing VAT returns, managing and reconciling bank accounts, payment ledgers, and bodyshop ledgers, and providing strategic financial guidance. The Financial Controller will work closely with the leadership team to align financial management with overall business objectives and support wider commercial decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, analyse, and present financial statements in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Ensure compliance with statutory laws and regulations, including tax filings and audits.
- Prepare and file VAT returns accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with relevant VAT regulations.
- Manage and reconcile bank accounts, payment ledgers, and bodyshop ledgers to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Monitor cash flow and optimise capital structure.
- Collaborate with external auditors and manage audit processes.
- Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction.
- Lead financial analysis for new projects, investments, and strategic initiatives.
- Work closely with the leadership team to provide financial insights, support decision-making, and align financial strategies with business goals.
- Mentor and develop the finance team to enhance their skills and performance.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor''s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or CFA designation preferred.
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role within a Finance company.
- Experience in lending, B2B, factoring or insurance industry would be an advantage.
- Strong understanding of financial laws, regulations, VAT regulations, ledger reconciliation processes, and strategic financial planning.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial analysis tools, including Sage 200.
- Excellent leadership, organisation, communication skills and a ''hands-on'' team player.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail and a collaborative ''can-do'' attitude.
