The Opportunity

QBE Europe is recruiting a finance lead for our Modernisation program who will work alongside the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Transformation Officer to drive the successful delivery of QBE Europe Modernisation. You will lead a team of 2 Portfolio Finance Officers evaluating complex financial data and influencing investment decision-making by offering solutions, providing challenge and navigating complex processes on behalf of senior stakeholders. You will be supported by FPandA, Finance Operations and our Offshore partners on the production of accurate and timely management information and be responsible for translating this into decision-relevant insights.

Responsibilities

Proactive Business Partnering by engaging with the Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) and Chief Information Officer (CIO) and their leadership teams.

Present financials at the Transformation Forum and to other key stakeholders.

Finance representative for QBE Europe at relevant Group Technology and Transformation meetings.

Develop strong relationships and credibility with divisional personnel and act as a trusted adviser on finance matters.

Lead the financial planning and analysis process for the Technology and Transformation functions, ensuring accurate tracking vs. budget/reforecast; investigate and explain variances; communicate performance to key stakeholders; deliver targeted analytics to enable management action and commercial value.

Partner internal customers with the pursuit of operational efficiency; perform ad hoc analysis and forward-looking strategic projections over the cost base as required.

Act as an exemplar to the team and the wider finance community with a customer-led mindset.

Drive continuous improvements in processes and reporting to meet customer requirements.

Build a culture of accountability to ensure output and service quality meet stakeholder expectations and KPIs.

Invest in development and provide opportunities for team members to expand knowledge and experience.

Provide visible leadership and deliver effective and timely communications to the CFO, CTO and CIO.

Proven ability to build successful internal business relationships.

Ability to simplify and communicate finance terminology to non-financial colleagues.

Resilient to challenge and capable of backing themselves with senior management.

Effective communication at all levels within the organization.

Ability to represent Finance to all stakeholders.

Negotiates, persuades and influences across QBE and external networks.

Strong accounting skills.
