Senior Estimator

We are working with an established construction contractor specialising in commercial refurbishment, fit-out and construction projects across London and the surrounding areas.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to join their pre-construction team.

You will work closely with the commercial, pre-construction and operational teams, managing tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the estimating process from initial enquiry through to tender submission.
• Review tender documentation, drawings and specifications to fully understand project requirements.
• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates across a range of construction and refurbishment projects.
• Carry out detailed quantity take-offs, measurements and pricing.
• Prepare bills of quantities, preliminaries and detailed tender breakdowns.
• Identify suitable subcontractors and suppliers and manage the quotation process.
• Review, compare and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with the supply chain.
• Identify commercial risks, exclusions and opportunities within tender packages.
• Work closely with the pre-construction and delivery teams to develop buildable and commercially viable solutions.
• Attend site visits, tender meetings and client meetings where required.
• Assist with value engineering and alternative construction proposals.
• Prepare tender adjudications and present estimates to senior management.
• Ensure tenders are completed accurately and submitted within agreed deadlines.
• Support the handover of successful tenders to the commercial and project teams.
• Assist with developing estimating procedures and best practice across the business.

About You

• Proven experience working as an Estimator / Senior Estimator within the construction industry.
• Strong experience across commercial refurbishment, fit-out or main contracting.
• Excellent understanding of construction methods, sequencing and buildability.
• Strong ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Experienced in producing detailed estimates and undertaking accurate take-offs.
• Confident managing subcontractor and supplier enquiries from start to finish.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Able to manage multiple tenders and deadlines effectively.
• Confident presenting estimates and tender strategies to senior management.
