Senior Estimator – Construction

Lynx Employment Services is recruiting an experienced Senior Estimator on behalf of an established construction business operating across the North West and based in Sheffield.

This is a senior opportunity for an accomplished construction estimator who can take ownership of complex tenders, develop competitive bid strategies and produce robust, commercially sound estimates across a varied portfolio of construction projects.
You will work closely with bid, commercial and procurement teams and play an important role in identifying risk, challenging supply-chain costs and developing value-engineering opportunities.

## The Role

As Senior Estimator, your responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing tender enquiries and developing competitive bid strategies
• Producing detailed nett cost estimates for traditional and non-traditional construction bids
• Completing accurate quantity take-offs
• Preparing first-principles estimates covering labour, plant and materials
• Issuing and reviewing subcontractor and supplier enquiries
• Analysing and challenging supply-chain quotations to ensure best value
• Working closely with procurement to obtain competitive material pricing
• Identifying value-engineering opportunities
• Assessing commercial and operational risks within tender submissions
• Contributing to tender adjudication and finalisation documentation
• Preparing tender letters, technical notes and qualifications
• Attending client meetings and tender interviews where required
• Producing benchmarking information to support future bids
• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the estimating team

## About You

We are looking for an experienced construction professional who can demonstrate:

A minimum of 15 years'' experience within the construction sectorSignificant experience in estimating or pre-constructionExperience working across a variety of construction projects and contract valuesStrong knowledge of first-principles estimatingExcellent understanding of subcontractor, supplier, labour, plant and material costsExperience of tendering, bid strategy and tender adjudicationStrong commercial awareness and the ability to identify both risk and opportunityExperience of value engineeringConfidence dealing with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and senior stakeholdersThe ability to support and mentor less experienced estimators

Previous experience working for a main contractor or substantial regional construction contractor would be particularly advantageous.
