We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Estimator to join a well-established and highly regarded independent M&E contractor based in Cambridge.

This is a senior opportunity for an experienced estimator who is looking to take ownership of complex tenders and play a key role in the continued growth of an established engineering business.

The successful candidate will work closely with the commercial, design and project teams, playing a key role in developing competitive and commercially robust tenders from initial enquiry through to contract award.

The Role

As Senior Estimator, you will take responsibility for the preparation and management of tenders across a range of high-value M&E projects.

You will have significant involvement in the commercial development of projects and will be expected to bring strong technical estimating knowledge, commercial awareness and the confidence to challenge and develop tender solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and submission of tenders for major M&E projects
• Review drawings, specifications, scopes and tender documentation
• Undertake detailed quantity take-offs and measurements
• Prepare detailed labour, material, plant and subcontractor costings
• Obtain and analyse supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Produce accurate and competitive tender returns
• Identify commercial risks, exclusions, assumptions and opportunities
• Work closely with the design team to assess buildability and technical requirements
• Identify opportunities for value engineering
• Liaise with clients, consultants, main contractors, suppliers and subcontractors
• Attend tender meetings and site visits
• Prepare tender adjudications for senior management
• Support post-tender negotiations and commercial discussions

About You

We''re looking for an experienced estimator who understands both the technical and commercial sides of M&E contracting.

You will ideally have:

• Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator
• Experience working for an M&E contractor, specialist engineering contractor or main contractor
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical estimating experience
• Experience with design & build projects
• Strong understanding of construction and building-services costs
• Experience producing detailed take-offs and estimates
• Strong subcontractor and supplier knowledge
• The ability to identify risk and opportunity within tenders
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
