Senior Estimator - Civil Engineering

Our client, a prominent player in the rail sector, is seeking a Senior Estimator with heavy civil engineering experience for a contract role based in London. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to a major rail project on an initial 6-month contract.

• Leading the development of a small team within a major rail project
• Supporting and leading assurance on contractor estimates
• Producing high-level order of magnitude costs and first principal estimates
• Working across multiple work packages and disciplines
• Completing a full take-off independently, including proficiency in UK measurement methods (RMM1, CESMM4) and estimating software
• Understanding indirect costs and other fees in estimates
• Engaging with stakeholders such as engineers, clients, and authorities
• Reviewing outputs from junior estimators and providing project guidance
• Writing basis-of-estimate reports for director review
• Benchmarking outputs against market data

• Experience in estimating within the civil engineering sector, particularly rail
• Strong leadership and team development skills
• Advanced understanding of UK measurement methods and estimating software
• Ability to work on multiple tasks and disciplines
• Proficiency in producing detailed and high-level estimates
• Strong stakeholder engagement capabilities
• Ability to review and guide junior estimators'' outputs
• Experience in writing comprehensive basis-of-estimate reports
• Capability to benchmark against market data
• Willingness to travel to London and/or Birmingham 3 days a week
