You''ll drive excellence in engineering practices, foster a high-performing and collaborative culture, and shape the strategy behind some of Plum''s most impactful products. The Brokerage domain powers our investment products, including Stocks, Crypto, ETFs trading, serving a fast-growing user base across the UK and the EU. It is a dynamic and highly regulated space, requiring smart, scalable, and secure systems.Your Team Structure
Plum is organized into cross-functional squads, each made up of Product Managers, Designers, Backend and Mobile Engineers. Squads belong to domains, which are grouped into Pillars representing key strategic areas of the business. As a Senior Engineering Manager, you''ll oversee the Brokerage domain (currently part of the Wealth Pillar), managing two squads (directly leading one team and supporting the other via the Engineering Lead). You will work with Product and Design leaders to align on goals and raise the bar on execution. Your focus will be to guide technical vision, ensure strong delivery, and drive cross-team collaboration.Key Responsibilities
Own the engineering outcomes across the Brokerage domain, ensuring delivery aligns with product goals and business prioritiesLead and mentor Engineering Leads and Individual contributors, supporting their growth and enabling them to build empowered, high-performing squadsPartner with Product and Design to shape technical feasibility and long-term vision for brokerage servicesProvide architectural direction for complex systems that need to be scalable, reliable, and compliantEmbed a culture of engineering excellence through strong delivery processes, code quality, and continuous improvementFoster a team culture that prioritises impact, ownership, and a commitment to learningHelp shape Plum''s broader engineering strategy and contribute to cross-pillar initiativesMonitor emerging technology and regulatory shifts in the investment space and apply them thoughtfully to our workWho You Are
You’re a proven engineering leader with experience scaling engineering teams and managing other leaders across multiple domains, with a strong and demonstrable background in the Brokerage spaceComfortable balancing hands-on involvement with strategic oversight; you know when to roll up your sleeves and when to delegateFamiliar with building products in regulated environments, ideally within brokerage or fintechStrong in coaching and developing engineering leaders, building clear growth paths and fostering autonomyExcellent communicator who can bring alignment across disciplines and simplify complex technical ideasDeeply user-focused, with a product mindset and a pragmatic approach to problem-solvingPassionate about continuous improvement, inclusive leadership, and building strong, collaborative culturesWhat’s In It For You
