Senior Engineer - Water

The role is focused less on heavy design and more on site-based engineering coordination and permitting. You''ll be supporting the delivery of early-stage enabling works like excavations, surveys, and trial trenching.

Key responsibilities:

• Managing and issuing permits to dig and ensuring compliance before excavation works begin
• Supporting Site Engineers and coordinating closely with Foremen, Works Managers, and subcontractors
• Overseeing site documentation, diaries, and progress tracking
• Ensuring health & safety and environmental compliance on site
• Liaising with utilities, local authorities, and stakeholders
• Coordinating logistics, access, and sequencing of work across the supply chain
• Supporting planning and tracking of works to keep delivery on schedule

Ideal candidate:

• Strong site engineering background (civils / utilities / infrastructure)
• Experience with permit systems, excavation works, and temporary works
• Good understanding of site coordination rather than pure design
• Holds CSCS, ideally Thames Water Passport / Skillsguard
• Comfortable working across multiple teams and keeping site documentation audit-ready
