Overview
We are currently working with a leading engineering organisation based in Cambridge, focused on developing advanced RF and high-frequency electronic systems used across telecommunications, space, and defence applications. They are looking to hire a Senior Electronics Engineer to join their Systems Engineering team, contributing to the design and development of cutting-edge electronic products.
The Role
This is a hands-on engineering role where you will take ownership of designs from concept through to production. You will be working in a multidisciplinary environment alongside RF, software, and firmware engineers to deliver high-performance, reliable systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop analogue and digital electronic circuits, including mixed-signal systems
- Develop signal conditioning circuits, filters, amplifiers, and power supply modules
- Design digital systems using microprocessors, ADCs, DACs, and associated logic
- Capture schematics and support PCB design, including materials and stack-up
- Perform simulation, component selection, and produce detailed technical specifications
- Work with interfaces such as PCIe, USB, Ethernet, CAN, I²C, and SPI
- Troubleshoot hardware and communication issues
- Support system integration, verification, and validation
- Prepare test specifications, reports, and reliability assessments
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (RF, software, firmware)
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement
- Support product introduction, fault diagnosis, and lifecycle management
- Manage component obsolescence and recommend alternatives
- Conduct thermal analysis, tolerance analysis, and MTBF calculations
- Ensure designs meet performance, cost, and manufacturability targets
- Degree in Electronic Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Strong experience in analogue and digital circuit design
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools (Altium desirable)
- Understanding of EMC/EMI design and testing principles
- Experience using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analysers, logic analysers)
- Experience in RF or microwave electronics
- Exposure to high-volume manufacturing and surface mount technologies
