A growing building services consultancy is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its London team.
This role suits an experienced electrical engineer, with at least 4 years in building services, who is ready to lead design across several projects, manage junior colleagues and become a main point of contact for clients and the wider design team.
The Role
You''ll lead the electrical design on multiple projects, taking each from concept through to a fully coordinated design package. You''ll guide and delegate to junior engineers while staying accountable for the quality and delivery of the work.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading electrical design across several projects and coordinating building services with the external design team.
- Carrying out load calculations and using software to size equipment and low voltage infrastructure.
- Assessing renewable energy options against sustainability targets and utility network requirements.
- Producing design packages, including sketches, drawings, stage reports, specifications and schedules, at the level of detail each stage needs.
- Working with manufacturers and utility providers to confirm equipment selections and submit supply applications.
- Turning the project brief and client aspirations into a compliant design that meets building regulations, British Standards and CIBSE guidance.
- Visiting site to check the design is built as intended and writing up inspection reports.
- Supervising, mentoring and delegating to junior engineers, with regular check-ins with your line manager on workload and priorities.
About You
You''ll have:
- At least 4 years'' experience as an electrical engineer in building services, and a good degree in electrical engineering, building services engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience supervising junior engineers and delegating work.
- Confident 2D AutoCAD skills and experience with Revit or similar BIM tools.
- Proficiency in design and analysis software such as IES, Amtech, Eplan, Dialux and PVSyst.
- Experience with smart networks, IT infrastructure and security systems, plus awareness of fire design and life safety.
- A solid grounding in thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
- Knowledge of building regulations, planning policy, British Standards, CIBSE guidance and a designer''s duties under CDM, plus awareness of trends in sustainable design.
- Graduate membership of CIBSE and/or the IET, with a commitment to working towards chartership and recording CPD.
- Excellent communication, organisation and Microsoft Office skills, with a sharp eye for detail and the ability to deliver under pressure.
Nice to Have
- Experience as the lead contact for the external design team and managing project finances.
- Business development skills and a track record of winning repeat work.
- Experience with BMS, home automation, AV systems or smart power management.
