Senior Electrical Design Engineer

A leading engineering organisation in Bristol is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to take ownership of complex electrical system design across a range of innovative projects. This role suits someone who thrives on technical depth, precision, and delivering high-quality engineering outputs.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of electrical systems for new and existing products.
- Produce high-quality drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout designs.
- Ensure all electrical designs meet relevant UK and EU safety standards, including CE marking requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical systems into wider product architectures.
- Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and compliance checks.
-  Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer, ideally in a senior or lead capacity.
- Strong capability in producing electrical drawings, schematics, and layout documentation using industry-standard CAD/EDA tools.
- In-depth knowledge of UK and EU electrical safety standards, including CE marking processes and compliance pathways.
- Solid understanding of electrical components, system integration, and design for manufacture.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously on complex technical challenges.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines.

Desirable
- Experience in highly regulated sectors (e.g., aerospace, automotive, industrial automation, medical devices).
- Familiarity with EMC considerations and testing.
- Knowledge of product lifecycle management and configuration control.
