Senior Ecologist - Cardiff
An established and expanding environmental consultancy is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join its team in Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ecologist looking to take a leading role in project delivery while contributing to the continued growth of a respected consultancy.
The successful candidate will lead and manage ecological projects across a wide range of sectors, including infrastructure, development, and conservation. They will be responsible for delivering high-quality ecological surveys, assessments, and reports, while providing technical guidance to colleagues and building strong relationships with clients and project partners. This role offers the chance to work on diverse and challenging projects, combining fieldwork, technical reporting, project management, and client engagement.

Key responsibilities include;
Leading and undertaking habitat and protected species surveys
Managing ecological projects from initial survey design through to reporting and delivery
Producing high-quality reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, and method statements
Providing technical oversight and mentoring junior ecologists
Liaising with clients, planners, and multidisciplinary project teams
Contributing to business development and maintaining strong client relationships
The ideal candidate will have;
Significant experience within ecological consultancy
Strong knowledge of UK habitats, protected species, and wildlife legislation
Excellent report writing and project management skills
Experience managing survey programmes and ecological teams
Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (or eligibility for membership)
A full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake fieldwork as required
