Senior EC&I Engineer

Location:-Warrington
Sector:-Nuclear Decommissioning
Job Type:-Permanent

About Westlakes Recruit

Westlakes Recruit is supporting a leading organisation delivering some of the UK''s most complex and nationally significant nuclear decommissioning programmes.

As project activity continues to grow, we are looking to connect with experienced-Senior EC&I Engineers-to support the safe and successful delivery of critical decommissioning, waste management, plant modification and infrastructure projects.

The UK nuclear sector is entering a sustained period of investment and delivery, creating long-term opportunities for senior engineering professionals with the capability to take greater technical responsibility across complex design scopes.

For Senior EC&I Engineers, this offers the opportunity to work closely with Responsible Engineers and Area Engineering Managers, providing technical input and supporting the delivery of safe, compliant and robust engineering solutions across the project lifecycle.

The Opportunity

As a Senior EC&I Engineer, you will support the EC&I Responsible Engineer and Area Engineering Manager in the successful delivery of engineering design activities across complex nuclear projects.

You will take responsibility for the production and coordination of engineering design work packages, including specifications, drawings, analyses, verification documentation and engineering assessments.

The role will require you to ensure engineering solutions satisfy applicable legal, regulatory and functional requirements, alongside defined performance conditions, while being delivered to agreed time, cost and quality expectations.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the EC&I Responsible Engineer and Area Engineering Manager in the delivery of engineering design scopes.

  • Producing and coordinating high-quality EC&I engineering design work packages.

  • Developing specifications, drawings, calculations, analyses, verification documentation and engineering assessments.

  • Ensuring engineering designs meet applicable legal, regulatory, functional and performance requirements.

  • Supporting the technical coordination and delivery of building electrical services design.

  • Providing technical input into complex EC&I design issues and supporting resolution of engineering challenges.

  • Applying CDM Regulations and relevant engineering standards throughout the design process.

  • Supporting space management, cable routing and cable management activities.

  • Reviewing engineering outputs and contributing to design verification and assurance activities.

  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop safe, practical and buildable engineering solutions.

  • Supporting interfaces between engineering disciplines and helping ensure technical requirements are clearly understood and effectively managed.

  • Delivering engineering outputs against agreed programme, cost and quality requirements.

  • Supporting less experienced engineers and designers where appropriate.

  • Working independently on defined technical scopes while contributing effectively as part of an integrated delivery team.

About You

You will be an experienced EC&I Engineer with a strong background in engineering design delivery within complex and highly regulated environments.

You should be comfortable taking ownership of defined technical scopes, supporting Responsible Engineers and senior engineering management, and providing technical guidance across multidisciplinary teams.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Proven experience in EC&I or CE&I engineering design and project delivery.

  • Strong experience in the design and delivery of building electrical services.

  • Competence in the application of CDM Regulations.

  • Experience in space management, cable routing and cable management.

  • Experience producing and reviewing engineering specifications, drawings, analyses, assessments and verification documentation.

  • The ability to interpret and apply legal, regulatory, functional and performance requirements to engineering design.

  • Experience working within multidisciplinary and integrated engineering teams.

  • The ability to work independently and manage technical priorities within demanding programme constraints.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with engineers, designers, project teams and senior stakeholders.

  • A degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.

Experience within the nuclear, defence, energy or another highly regulated engineering sector would be advantageous.

Due to the nature of the work, applicants will be required to meet appropriate UK security and site access requirements.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to take on greater technical responsibility within a major UK nuclear programme, working closely with Responsible Engineers and engineering management on complex EC&I design challenges.

The role offers exposure to technically demanding projects, multidisciplinary engineering environments and the opportunity to contribute to the delivery and assurance of nationally significant decommissioning and infrastructure programmes.

Westlakes Recruit can provide further insight into the client, project environment and longer-term career opportunities associated with the role.
