Senior Design Manager

An established building contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex residential projects is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Design Manager.

With a strong pipeline of work across high-rise residential developments, including both new build schemes and major recladding and remediation projects, this is an opportunity to take a lead role on technically challenging projects from pre-construction through to completion.

Working closely with operational teams, consultants and clients, you''ll be responsible for driving the design process, managing technical risk and ensuring design information is delivered to programme across live projects.

The Role

As Senior Design Manager, you''ll lead the design management function on high-rise residential schemes, ensuring design information is coordinated, compliant and delivered in line with programme and quality requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the design process from pre-construction through to project completion.
• Managing the delivery of design information across all project stages.
• Coordinating architects, structural engineers, M&E consultants and specialist subcontractors.
• Chairing design team meetings and managing design programmes.
• Managing RFIs, design changes and technical approvals.
• Working closely with site teams to resolve technical challenges during construction.
• Ensuring compliance with Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act and Gateway requirements where applicable.
• Supporting value engineering while maintaining quality, compliance and programme.
• Reviewing subcontractor design packages to ensure they meet project requirements.

What We''re Looking For

• Proven experience as a Senior Design Manager or experienced Design Manager within a main contractor environment.
• Strong track record delivering high-rise residential projects, including new build developments.
• Experience managing recladding, fa-ade remediation or external envelope projects.
• Excellent knowledge of design coordination, technical delivery and construction sequencing.
• Strong understanding of Building Regulations, fire safety requirements and the Building Safety Act.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams and build strong relationships with clients and consultants.
